“A mighty community of monks from 40 countries who attended the two-day Global Buddhist Summit in Delhi may be amongst the ‘honoured company’ on the Republic Day parade on Kartavya Direction,” the Custom Ministry said on Sunday (January 25, 2026).

Thirty-three Delhi Police personnel, collectively with five females, may be honoured with gallantry and carrier medals on Republic Day in recognition of bravery, eminent carrier and meritorious work, a senior officer said on Sunday.
The honours consist of 14 Medals for Gallantry, two President’s Medals for Notorious Service, and 17 Medals for Meritorious Service, the officer said. Amongst the gallantry awardees is Extra Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah, who, alongside with Sub-Inspector (SI) Rajeev Kumar and SI Shibu, confronted a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist advance Mayur Vihar in January 2024.
