“A woman from Bhubaneswar posed as an official of the Labour Department and collected money from several people by promising them loans. About six months ago, she duped many people in Kaptipada of around one crore rupees. She has also cheated me of around Rs 5 to Rs 7 lakh,” mentioned Santosh Kumar Pati, a complainant.
“Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Kaptipada Police Station. Acting on this, a police team arrested the woman in Bhubaneswar under the jurisdiction of Hanspal Police Station. Preliminary investigation indicates that she is involved in multiple fraud cases across Odisha. Further investigation will reveal the involvement of other persons linked to her activities,” mentioned Kaptipada police space IIC Madhusmita Mohanty.
