His confirmation came shortly after Iranian state media reported the planned visit. The official IRNA news agency said Araghchi would begin his trip on Friday evening, travelling to Islamabad, Muscat and Moscow.
“The purpose of this trip is to hold bilateral consultations, discuss ongoing developments in the region, and review the latest situation regarding the war imposed by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran,” IRNA reported.
Pakistan has taken on a key mediating role in efforts to ease tensions between Tehran and Washington. A serious round of talks held earlier this month ran for several hours, nevertheless no settlement became reached, and Iran has to this level no longer committed to attending a 2nd round.
