Banakalagi ritual: Puri Srimandir to remain closed for devotees for 5 hours today

The Banakalagi ritual of Lord Jagannath and His Siblings will be performed at Puri Srimandir on Wednesday, main to a five-hour cease in public darshan.

The Banakalagi ritual of Lord Jagannath and His Siblings will be performed at PuriSrimandir on Wednesday, main to a five-hour cease in public darshan. The ritual will initiate after the completion of the 2d Bhoga Mandap offering, at some level of which the principle temple will remain closed to devotees.

As Banakalagi is a secret ritual, customary darshan will remain suspended from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Per experiences, the Maha Snana will be conducted after the Srimukha adornment ritual of Lord Jagannath and His Siblings on the Ratna Bedi.

Temple rituals for the day started early on Wednesday. Mangala Alati, Mailama, Tadapalagi, Abakasa Niti, and other morning rituals had been finished. After the completion of rituals like Gopala Ballabha, Sakala Dhoopa, Bhoga Mandap, Madhyanna Dhoopa and Dwitiya Bhoga Mandap, the Banakalagi ritual will then be conducted.

Sevayats Exhaust Mature Natural Colours

At some level of Banakalagi, the Dutta Mohapatra sevayats use natural colors, including conch shell for white, sad from diya, Haritala for red, Hingula for yellow, along with other naturally sourced substances. Kasturi is utilized to give protection to the our bodies of the Sibling Deities at some level of the approach. The total ritual is expected to grab fair about five hours.

While the principle temple will remain closed for public darshan at some level of this duration, devotees will composed be ready to produce prayers to other deities residing for the length of the temple premises.

After the completion of Banakalagi, rituals equivalent to Sandhya Alati, Sandhya Dhoopa and Badasinghara Besha will be performed till gradual evening, and devotees will be ready to have darshan as soon as more.
