Kolkata: West Bengal governor C.V. Ananda Bose on Saturday renamed the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata as Lok Bhavan, following a directive from the Union dwelling ministry.
“In pursuance of the conversation from the ministry of Dwelling affairs on November 25, it’s hereby notified that the title of the holdings of Raj Bhavan in Kolkata, Flagstaff Dwelling and Darjeeling has hereby been modified and renamed as Lok Bhavan,” a notification issued by the governor mentioned.
The Raj Bhavan used to be constructed in 1803 and used to be then steadily called the Authorities Dwelling. “In tune with the transformational and inspirational management of honourable High Minister Shri Narendra Modi that has ensured participation of of us all the design through all segments of society within the onward spectacular march towards Viksit Bharat, Raj Bhavans and Raj Niwas all the design through the nation had been uniformly determined to be renamed as Lok Bhavan and Lok Niwas respectively, as per a notification issued by the ministry of dwelling affairs on November 25, 2025,” he added.
