Supreme Court grants bail to filmmaker Vikram Bhatt in cheating case

The Supreme Court on Thursday (February 19, 2026) granted bail to filmmaker Vikram Bhatt in a multi-crore rupees dishonest case lodged in Rajasthan.

A Bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M, Pancholi also regularised the interim bail granted earlier to Mr. Bhatt’s predominant other Shwetambari Bhatt within the case.

Shwetambari Bhatt used to be granted interim bail on February 13.

Earlier on January 31, the Rajasthan Excessive Court had rejected their bail applications within the dishonest case.

They were arrested in Mumbai and introduced to Udaipur in December closing year. Whereas granting bail to each and every, the head court requested the parties to invent efforts for arriving at an amicable resolution via mediation.

Complainant Ajay Murdia, founding father of Indira IVF and Fertility Centre and a resident of Udaipur, has alleged in his complaint that Mr. Bhatt and his predominant other ended in him to make investments over ₹30 crore in a biopic of his slack predominant other, promising excessive returns.

Vikram Bhatt used to be arrested after Mr. Murdia filed a complaint of dishonest and criminal breach of believe against the filmmaker, his predominant other and others, alleging that funds taken within the identify of a movie venture were misappropriated.

The complaint has alleged that funds to the tune of ₹30 crore were misappropriated. The complaint alleged that the Bhatts ready untrue bills below diversified names and bought cash transferred from the complainant.
