He emphasised that Washington’s withdrawal would not depend on reaching a deal with Tehran, which has in retaliation effectively closed the crucial Strait of Hormuz to oil tanker traffic.
“They don’t have to make a deal with me… Whether we have a deal or not, it’s irrelevant,” Trump acknowledged, adding that the US would exit as soon because it believes Iran’s nuclear capabilities maintain been sufficiently degraded.
