Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant expressed surprise at the opposition by participants of the Gauhati Excessive Court Bar Affiliation to the new built-in Judicial Court Advanced in Assam’s North Guwahati dwelling, the foundation for which he laid on Sunday (January 11, 2026).

He maintained that “non-public vested interest must now not be legitimate grounds” for resisting the reach of new infrastructure.
